Hi!
I came across your site this morning thanks to Mashable! and tried out the demo page - I was greatly impressed, so I have added the javascript to two of my webpages (http://www.hybrid-gamers.com and my blog at http://www.jamesbuckingham.com).
However, for some reason I can't get the system to work - am I doing something wrong?
I've tried adding the javascript inside the body tags, as well as in the headers of both pages, but it doesn't display for me (I'm using IE6 unfortunately - but the demo page works so I thought the live service would too).
ANy help you could give would rock. :)
Many thanks
Ok nevermind - its now working fine. lol :)
I'd use it if it didn't just work on 1 page (when you click on a HTML link you effectively leave).
It works on every page if you put it in your header - its just that every different page is like a different chat room.
Working perfectly for me at the moment. :D
Nice one. Did a quick implementation on my not-so-updated page http://myrberger.se - worked fine.
Only a bit worried about the "sign-up" box that seems to appear for all users. Therefore I'll wait a bit until implementing it on my main blog (http://thekillerattitude.com)
this is an awesome idea!
however, i have tried to embed thatsmymouse in a facebook profile using an app that allows you to imput your own html, but it doesn't seem to be working. will definitely keep an eye out for future developments though.
potentially ground-breaking stuff.
keep up the good work!
Yeah to be honest I'd be surprised if Facebook allowed you to add a javascript into your profile... I know its the kind of thing that Myspace and Virb don't allow.
You apparently don't support Firefox 3, so I suggest that you change the "We currently support the latest version of Firefox" text. :-P
(I'm sure it would work, but your browser-sniffing is perhaps a bit restrictive.)
Hi all,
Thanks for the feedback! Here’s some responses.
@jay – thanks for adding it to your site! I noticed that the formatting looks a little wonky when running on your blog. We’ve worked out what the problem is and will upload a fix ASAP.
@wesley – as Jay says, it will work on any page that you add the JavaScript code to. If you have a template for your site or blog, you can probably add it in once and it will work across the whole site.
@Johan Myrberger – the “sign up” page isn’t really a signup – it’s really for informational purposes only. During the private beta we didn’t have any dialogue there, but we found people were confused when they started seeing all these markers moving across the screen without explanation. We also wanted to give people a chance to opt-out before the application starts up. The dialogue will only appear once for a user just to let them know what’s going on.
@boredbrand – yeah unfortunately it won’t work on a facebook or myspace page. They strip out JavaScript code, so it’s going to be blocked from running on either of those sites.
@david – I’m running the latest Firefox 3 beta right now and having no problems running thatsmymouse. Are you running an older version of the beta? What OS are you on?
I'd like to use it as as a customer support for my web app, but I realize now that isn't how it works.
It's not really "screen sharing", just mouse sharing :)
So I cannot control the user account of the logged in user moving his mouse :( (since I don't know his password, etc)
Pitty :)
@james: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9b3pre) Gecko/2008013004 Minefield/3.0b3pre ID:2008013004
(When you're one of those borderline-insane people who runs the nightly builds, the "firefox" string is replaced with "minefield".)
@wesley - You can still use ThatyMyMouse as a support tool. Since people can see what links you click on and follow you through the site.
For the future, we're looking at providing better support for allow people to "share" a browsing session, beyond sharing their mouse.
@david - Thank you for that update. The FF3 nightly builds should now be working with ThatsMyMouse.
