Call up the removalists

I’ve decided to move this blog over to Blogger. The main reason is that I wanted to have a few extra features (rss feeds, comments) and while we could have coded them into the original blog, there’s not much point in re-inventing the wheel. Additionally I do intend to have thatsmymouse running on this blog, once we move into the full public beta. Since we’ve already optimised for running on Blogger, it’s a good demonstration of how the app can operate “in the wild”.

We rolled out version 0.5 of thatsmymouse last week. It included a chat log (so the application could act like a normal chat client) and emoticons. Within the next couple of weeks we should be bringing out friends lists and a FireFox extension to improve the application’s performance in FireFox. We’re also working on EC2 trying to find the best solution for running the app in a distributed environment. More on that soon.
